S. Steward

d. July 28, 2012

S. James Steward, age 80, of Black Creek, died July 28, 2012 at Care Partners in Little Chute after a battle with dementia. He was born Nov. 10, 1931 in Seymour, the son of the late Sidney and Lillian (Neitzke) Steward.

He married Marie H. Peters on June 14, 1952 at St. John United Church of Christ in Black Creek where he was a member. Jim was a past president, Sunday school teacher, mentor, served on the building committee, was the cook for Easter breakfast, mother and daughter banquets along with his wife's helping hand. Jim and Marie always looked forward to playing on a couple's dart team on Sundays. Jim and Marie celebrated 50 years of marriage in June, 2002. Marie proceded Jim in death on Nov. 23, 2002.

Jim was a Morning Glory milkman for 21 years delivering house to house. He was known to talk to people during this time. He later worked at Outagamie Producers (formerly Alto and now known as Saputo Cheese) from 1973 until his retirement.

For a part-time job Jim drove school bus for Huettl's. He loved driving bus for two of his grandchildren. This was his pride and joy he looked forward to doing each day.

Dad and Mom loved to polka every chance they could. Dad taught us girls to polka.

He enjoyed their cottage at Loon Lake, deer hunting, making breakfast and Thanksgiving supper in the trailer at the woods, and cutting wood. He was proud to have his children and grandchildren hunt each year. If they sat with him in his deer stand he would have many stories to talk to you about.

Dad enjoyed this all until such time the dementia took over and he didn't have the ability to care for himself. Dad then made his home at Care Partners from Feb., 2006 until his death.

He is survived by two daughters: Barbara (Steve) Sassman and Joan (Andy) Gleason of Black Creek; three sons: Donald, Black Creek; Alan (Kristal), Black Creek; David, Seymour; 13 grandchildren: Jennifer, Scott (Lori), Paul (special friend Jenny), Melissa, Travis, Christina (Mark), Shawn, Robyn, Lacie, Skyler, Jakob, Brad (special friend Emily), and Emily; 7 great grandchildren: Jamison, Mya, Kali, Scott Jr., Hunter, Kailey, and Sierra. Further survived by brother Calvin (Jane) Steward; sister Marcella Gagnow; sister-in-law Dorothy Steward; brother-in-law Larry (Joanie) Peters. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by four sisters: Marion (John) Babbitt, Lilyan (Herbert) Meyer, Lenore (Edward) Schmit, and Darlene (William) Ver Bruggen; brother Howard Steward; brother-in-law Orville Gagnow; sister-in-law Carol (William) Deltgen.

Friends may call at St. John United Church of Christ, Black Creek, on Monday, July 30, 2012 from 3 PM until services at 6 PM with Pastor Jill Meyer officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, is assisting the family with arrangements.

A very special thank you to Rhonda and staff at Care Partners, Little Chute, from Jim's family for offering Jim (Poppy) unending kindness and loving care to our father. You cared for our dad as though he was your very own. He couldn't have been in better hands and your kindness will never be forgotten. Thank You!
