Sandra Kraft

April 29, 1947 — November 2, 2018

Sandra Jean Kraft, age 71, of Seymour, Wisconsin died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on November 2, 2018. Sandra was born on April 29, 1947 to Eugene and Myrtle (Broberg) Pollock in Milwaukee, WI. Sandra is survived by her husband LaMont J. Kraft, daughters Bridget Belanger (Scott Pleau) and Natalie Feggestad (Cindy Archer), son Paul (Moira) Kraft, sister Linda (Pollock) Steuerwald and family, and ten grandchildren Courtney and Jessie Belanger; Jackson and Laurel Feggestad; Riley, Lucy, Ozzy, and Sonny Kraft; and Dylan and Devin Pleau. She was preceded in death by her parents.

At the age of 11, Sandra’s family moved to northern Wisconsin where she attended school in Elcho, WI. She graduated high school in 1965 as valedictorian of her class. After high school, Sandra attended technical school. During that time, she won a prestigious statewide competition that named her Wisconsin Secretary of the Year.

On August 24, 1968 she married her high school sweetheart LaMont James Kraft, also of Elcho, WI. After LaMont graduated from UW-River Falls in 1970 they moved to Seymour with their newborn daughter.

After being a stay-at-home mom for several years, Sandra joined the workforce in various office managerial positions. During this time, she also began taking courses at UW-Green Bay and earned her bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, and finance. In 1992, she began working at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, where she worked her way up to the role of NWTC Foundation Director. Her favorite part of being Foundation Director was helping students in financial need connect with many generous financial donors. She was particularly moved by donors who established memorial scholarships in honor of loved ones. Sandra was highly respected by her coworkers and peers in the technical college system. When she announced her retirement at the annual NWTC awards banquet, the crowd of 700 people gave her a standing ovation in recognition of her outstanding service and dedication.

Sandra and LaMont enjoyed taking their three children camping every summer, many trips to Lake Superior and road trips around the United States. She became a high school sports fan when LaMont joined the high school football staff at Seymour High School. Alongside fellow superfan Holly Collar they could be found in the stands for over 25 years. She continued her interest in high school sports as she cheered on her children as they competed in various sports.

Sandra joined her husband in retirement in 2012. Sandra and LaMont enjoyed traveling extensively including trips to Tahiti, Italy, Greece, Mexico, Alaska, and many other locations throughout the country. During the summer months, they traveled to Art Fairs throughout Wisconsin selling LaMont’s photography, which highlighted beautiful scenes from their travels and the wide variety of birds from their backyard.

Sandra’s greatest joy in life was her 10 grandchildren. She enjoyed learning and playing any games the grandchildren were interested in, such as Pokemon and chess. She enjoyed giving them gifts and surprises any time of year, never leaving a gift shop without buying something for the kids.

Throughout every stage of her life, Sandra was known for her intellect and even more for her kindness and compassion. She was always quick with a smile to brighten someone’s day. Sandy’s positive outlook acted as a magnetic beacon for others drawing in many friends and family.

A memorial service at the Green Bay Botanical Gardens is scheduled for Sandra on Saturday, November 10th with a gathering to begin at 9:30, service at 10:30, and reception to follow. Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Sandra’s life. The family would like to thank friends Cathy Anschutz, and Ed and Jo Machacek for their tremendous support and care during the past two months.
