Sandra Jane (Hooyman) Maass, 69, Freedom, left us peacefully in her sleep on August 10, 2013 after surviving lymphoma and her courageous battle with MSA. Sandy was born August 2, 1944 in Freedom to the late Stanley and Jean Hooyman.
On October 17, 1963 she married Jim Maass.
Sandy's greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Sandy touched the lives of many people with her smile, "look", kindness, and generosity.
After retiring from the Freedom Area School District she enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Townsend, golfing, traveling, and volunteering in her community.
Among those who gratefully shared her life are her husband, Jim; her children and grandchildren: Tim and LuAnn Maass and their sons Eric and Aaron; Kelly and Mike Wildenberg and daughter TeriJo (Rob) Hummel and son Tyler; Shari and Todd Eick and daughters Tara and Megan; Mike Maass and special friend Lori Busjahn and son Owen and daughter Brooklyn; Bob and Staci Maass and son Dillon and daughters Kara and Emma. Further survived by sisters: Phyllis (Jim) Huss, Barb (Ron) Van Rossum, and Linda (Brian) Dineen; sister-in-law Marilyn (Carl) Rudolph. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Jean Hooyman; father and mother-in-law Milton and Ruth Maass, and granddaughter Morgan Eick.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 4 pm to 8 pm with a parish prayer service at 7:30 pm. Visitation will continue at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom, on Friday, August 16, 2013 from 9:30 am until the Mass of Christian burial at 11 am with Fr. Dan Felton officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
