Sean Wagner

October 5, 1993 — December 25, 2022

Sean R. Wagner, age 29, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 25, 2022.

He was born on October 5, 1993 to Jeff Wagner and the late Margaret "Maggie" (Geenen) Wagner.

In his early years, Sean's days were filled with bike rides around town, rafting trips down the Wolf River and campfires with family and friends. Never one to shy away from competition, he participated in just about every sport imaginable. Whether it was a home run derby in the backyard, a quick round of golf at Little Crystal, or a game of h-o-r-s-e in the driveway, Sean welcomed the thrill of competing. As the years passed, he developed an affinity for running, and his commitment to the sport was affirmed through numerous conference championships and records which still line the halls of Seymour High School.

Sean graduated from Seymour High School in 2012 and went on to attend the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, where he competed in cross country and track before graduating with a degree in Business Administration in 2016.

Sean had a number of passions, many of which he shared with his closest friends and family. You could often find him on the nearest golf course, where his completive nature and determination would have him pursuing his lowest round to date. He admired the world around him through his passion for photography and possessed the unique ability to find beauty in the most unexpected places. He was a brilliant musician who could inspire an audience through his love for playing guitar, singing and songwriting. Sean's impression on this world through the bonds he forged, the images he captured and the music he created is everlasting.

Sean's light was evident through his enormous smile, his sense of humor and the compassion he showed to those around him. His kind heart and bright soul touched the lives of many in a profound manner.

Sean is survived by his father, Jeff (companion, Mindy Weinrich) Wagner; brother, Stephen (wife, Kassie and son, Rhye) Wagner; grandparents: John and Joan Wagner; cousins: Mary Jo Wagner, Jacob and Jennifer Wickesberg, Katelin and Jacob Gruper, Dylan and Megan Reavis, Daemyen and Dominic Johnson; aunts and uncles: Patricia (Brian) Wickesberg, Mary (Dan) Gruper, Elizabeth Reavis, Alice (Todd) Rasmussen, Cecile Geenen and Larry (Lisa) Wagner.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Maggie Wagner, and grandparents: Patrick and Cecilia Geenen.

A private family funeral mass will be held for Sean. Burial will take place at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Freedom, at a later date. If you have a favorite memory or story about Sean, we would love to hear it - please feel free to reach out in any way.
