It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Abel-Habeck, 88, announces her passing into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, following a brief Illness.
Shirley was born March 4, 1930 in Milwaukee, WI, to the late Charles and Lydia Warner. In 1945, Shirley moved to Seymour, WI, where she met her wonderful first husband, LeRoy Abel, at an ice cream social. Shirley and LeRoy were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church-Cicero in December 1946 and enjoyed 31 years of marriage. Together they raised 7 children and ran their family farm until LeRoy's passing in November 1978.
In 1991, while working in Seymour, WI, Shirley met the man she would spend the second half of her life with, Roger Habeck. Shirley and Roger married in 1992 and resided in Seymour, WI for most of their years together. (Thanks to Roger) Shirley developed a love for motorcycles and traveling -they often wintered in Texas and traveled to Alaska on their Honda Goldwing.
Shirley enjoyed feeding and watching the cardinals and Blue Jays at her birdfeeders, playing video bingo, and writing in her journal like she did every day since 1970. Most of all, Shirley loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy.
Shirley will be greatly missed by her by her 7 children: Sharon Abel of Neenah; Kathleen (Charles) Wendt of Greenville; Barbara (Steve) Frank of New London; Julie Abel of Oshkosh; LeRoy Abel Jr of Freedom; Kevin Abel of Appleton; Scott (Lisa) Abel of Menasha. She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, three sisters: Marge (Pete), Corrine (Joe), Ruth and Carol; brother, Leo; son-in-law, Wayne Fuss; and her half-siblings: Harold, Chester, Eugene, Beatrice and Ethel.
