Sophia M. Kocha, age 94, passed away Thursday morning, September 6, 2007 at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna. She was born May 9,1913 in the town of Osborne, Outagamie County, the daughter of the late Albert and Hilda (Rohm) Ring. Sophia was a lifelong member at the Freedom Moravian Church where she was baptized and confirmed. On November 29, 1934 she was united in marriage to Milford Kocha at Freedom Moravian Church. Milford preceded Sophia in death January 15, 2004, after 69 joyous years of marriage. She served on numerous committees, and was involved in many church activities. Sophia graduated from Appleton High School in 1931.
Sophia and her husband farmed for many years. She took great pride in her large vegetable and flower gardens. Both she and her husband served on the Freedom Moravian Cemetery Association for many years, and spent countless hours maintaining the grounds.
Sophia is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Donald (Violet) Kocha, Green Bay, along with many loving nieces and nephews and many friends.
In addition to her husband, Milford, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ewald Ring Sr., infant brother, Roy Ring; two sisters, Irene Gehl, Laverna Ihde and a God-son Dan Buelow.
Friends may call at the Freedom Moravian Church, W3457 Center Valley Road, on Monday, September 10, 2007, from 4:00 P.M. until the funeral services at 5:00 P.M. with Reverend Jason Anderson officiating. The burial will be in the Freedom Moravian Cemetery. The Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour is assisting the family. A memorial fund has been established for the Freedom Moravian Church. The family wishes to express a thank you to all friends and neighbors who helped in so many ways. We also thank the staff at Good Sheperd Home and St. Paul Home for the loving care given to Sophia during her stay.
