Stephen P. Kominowski, 67, of Elcho and formally of Appleton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 19, 2015 following a brief courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 8, 1947 son of the late Daniel and Corrine (Werner) Kominowski.
Steve was born in Milwaukee before his family moved to Seymour, where he met his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Schmoll in 1963, and graduated from high school in 1965. On November 4, 1967 he was united in marriage to Dorothy and the couple celebrated over 51 years together.
Steve worked his entire career in the auto parts business in Appleton. He spent almost 40 years working with Mopar parts and was known as "Mr. Mopar".
Steve and Dorothy enjoyed vacationing in Three Lakes for 25 years and camping at their trailer in Townsend. In 1994 they bought a cottage on Lower Post Lake and made it their home. Steve became a member of the Elcho United Church of Christ.
One of Steve's passions was fishing and keeping his family and friends supplied with fish for their fish fries. He also enjoyed deer hunting and snowmobiling.
Steve was an avid storyteller, and if he was going to tell a story, you better have packed a lunch. He was also the originator of the "cool sucker" description.
More than anything, spending time with his three grandchildren was very important to him.
Steve is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son, Scott (Kelly) Kominowski, New London; daughter, Vicki (Mark) Wicihowski, Boca Raton, FL; grandchildren: AJ and Madi Wicihowski and Chase Kominowski; siblings: Paulette (Oliver) Champeau, Appleton; Richard (Ellen) Kominowski, Shiocton; Jeffrey (Chris) Kominowski, Seymour; David Kominowski, Navarino; Brian (Janet) Hart, Seymour; Debbie (Ronald) Court, Pulaski; and Todd Hart, Appleton. Further survived by mother-in-law, Marie Schmoll; in-laws: Nancy Noack, William (Lois) Schmoll, Judy (Scott) Krueger, Richard (Debbie) Schmoll, Rae (Tim) Wilkinson, and Rose (Mark) Johnson.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his step-father, Joseph Hart; father-in-law, Cyril Schmoll; and brother-in-law Terry Noack.
In accordance with Steve's wishes there will be no services. We ask that you remember Steve in your own special way. Online condolences may be expressed at www.muehlboettcher.com .
