Steve Carpenter

November 26, 1950 — October 28, 2022

Steve Leeland Carpenter, 71, Seymour, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, October 28, 2022, after a six-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on November 26, 1950, to Leeland and Naomi (Pues) Carpenter. After graduating from Bonduel High School in 1969, Steve enlisted with the United States Army. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War where he served as a Warrant Office Helicopter Pilot from 1969-1972. Steve spent most of his service time in Korea.

Steve worked for 28 years as a welder for General Electric Apparatus Shop in Menasha. On August 23, 1986, he married Terrie Hansen, and they celebrated over 36 years of marriage. Steve enjoyed spending time with with his family. He was an active member of the Krause-Kraft-Mueller American Legion Post #106. Steve was an avid hunter; archery, rifles, and black powder guns were some of his favorites. This passion led him to write several books on the Sharps black powder guns.

Steve is survived by his wife, Terrie; his mother, Naomi Carpenter; three sisters: Karen Jutila, Sue (Rodney) Wichman, and Sarah (Larry) Spettel. He is further survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marcella; his father, Leeland Carpenter; one brother-in-law, Ron Jutila; and several aunts and uncles.

Visitation will take place at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Friday, November 11, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at Freedom Moravian Church, W3471 Center Valley Rd (Freedom), on Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m., Pastor James Heroux officiating. Military Honors by the Krause-Kraft-Mueller American Legion Post #106 will follow. Burial will take place at a later date at Bethesda Cemetery in Navarino.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

The family extends a special thanks to the staff of Unity Hospice for their compassionate care.
