Steven "Steve" L. DeBruin, age 64, of Seymour, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, September 26, 2015. He was born January 6, 1951, son of the late Orvell and RoseMarye DeBruin.
Steve was a graduate of Seymour High School Class of 1969. He married Sharon Flaig on September 7, 1973, at St John Catholic Church in Seymour. She preceded him in death June 3, 2012.
Steve farmed a good part of his life with his father Orvell. Later on he decided to only raise beef cattle and drive truck for Huettl out of Seymour. This was the beginning of Steve's truck driving career. He then drove semi truck several years for Fox Midwest then on to CTS for 19yrs. He retired from CTS in 2014.
Steve loved trips to Memphis with Sharon to enjoy some good BBQ and listen to the blues. He also enjoyed vacationing in Hayward WI to get in some good fishing in his favorite fishing spots. With his great love of the outdoors, Steve was often found in his boat fishing on Lake Michigan, the Wolf River, or any given local fishing hole. If Steve wasn't fishing, he was in the woods hunting deer or turkey. His greatest love and joy were his three grandchildren. He was known to them as "G-Pa".
He is survived by two daughters: Angie (Brian) Woolery, Hudson, WI; and Jackie (special friend Brandon) DeBruin, Green Bay; three grandchildren: Shelby, Taylor, and Jacob; brothers; David (Mary) DeBruin, Seymour; Dennis DeBruin, Appleton; and sister, Debbie Rosin, Green Bay; mother-in-law, Ruth Flaig, Green Bay; brothers-in-law: Gene Flaig, Green Bay and Tim Flaig, Green Bay.
Steve was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Birling, father-in-law; Alvin Flaig, sisters-in-law, Patti DeBruin and Jenny Flaig.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at St. John Catholic Church, Seymour, from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral mass at 11 a.m. with Father Brian Belongia. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
