Sylvester (Ves) Van Boxtel, 89, of Seymour lost his valiant battle against cancer on Monday, October 2, 2017 at his home. He was born May 16, 1928 in Seymour, son of the late Anton and Antonette (Wildenberg) Van Boxtel. On June 10, 1950 he was united in marriage to Dolores Arnoldussen and they enjoyed 67 years of marriage together.
Ves purchased the family farm from his father and enjoyed farming for many years. After selling the farm to his son Steve and because of his love of tractors and the outdoors, he began working at the Crystal Springs Golf Course maintaining their greens and of course playing lots of golf, another one of his loves. He enjoyed card playing with his family and friends and also loved any type of dancing; square dancing, polkas, whatever. He was a devoted father and no matter how busy with farm chores he always kept Sunday aside for family time together.
He is survived by his wife Dolores; six children: Dennis (Kathy) Van Boxtel, Appleton; Steven (Paula) Van Boxtel, Seymour; Daniel (Teri) Van Boxtel, Seymour; Kenneth (Tina) Van Boxtel, Tomahawk; Diane (Russell Tapley) Van Boxtel, Green Bay; Darlene (Joe) Bougie, Freedom; grandchildren: Sara Stone, Carrie (Ken) Meyer, Ashley (Justin) Peterson, Amanda (Keith) Keskinen, Abbey Van Boxtel, Jamie (Christie) Van Boxtel, Cody (Sarah) Van Boxtel, Tiffany Van Boxtel, Dylan Van Boxtel (fianee' Ann Prescott), Autumn (Adam) Solakiewicz, Courtney Bougie, and Lindsey Bougie; step-grandchildren: Nathan (Jenna) Haase, Lyssa Haase, Cayley Haase, Lexie (Jed) Roffers, Ashley Spranger, Chelsea Spranger, and Allison Spranger; 15 great-grandchildren. Further survived by a brother, Ray Van Boxtel, and many nieces and nephews.
Sylvester is preceded in death by brothers and sisters.
