Teyulelu Debra Cornelius, age 57, passed on March 25, 2012 at Bellin Hospital surrounded by her family following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 9, 1954 to the late Levi and Servilla (Skenandore) Webster in Green Bay.
As a young woman her passion for art in the Native American culture evolved into a teaching career. She loved Native American dancing, culture, art, music, and made fabulous corn soup.
Teyulelu was a part of the Echo Hawk Theater prior to graduating from UWGB and beginning her teaching career. She taught at Oneida Nation Schools for over 20 years. She continued to further her education and stressed the value of a good education to her children.
Family was a very important part of her life, especially her grandchildren, and she was always willing to help others.
She is survived by her best friend and husband for over 32 years Weston Cornelius, Nashville, TN; five children: Servilla (Dowe Thomas) Van Dyke, Green Bay; Kilabrew (Jean) Van Dyke, Green Bay; Yako (fiance Donovan Killspotted) Webster, Green Bay; Mae (Christopher) Cornelius, Oneida; Leah (Nate) Smith, Nashville, TN; 20 grandchildren: Lostosles, Shantel, Christian, Lanuhkwatslwise, Kirsten, Micgwire, Marissa, Connie, Daris, Janaiya, Leilana, Johnny, Mateo, Osakwalha, Charlotte, DeAngelo, Lijah, SIR, Sincere, and one on the way.
Teyulelu is further survived by five sisters: Alice Smith, Kansas; Charlotte (Mark) Walschinski, Oneida; Mary (Duane) Prescott, Indiana; Genevieve (William) Gollnick, Oneida; Catherine Webster, TN; one brother, Kenneth Webster, Milwaukee; sisters-in-law: Jackie Webster, TN; Elizabeth (Howard) Cornelius, Debra (Pastor Marvin) Wilber , Kathy Webster, Dee Cornelius; great aunts: Mae Baxter and Maria Hinton; special friend Dale Skenandore; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Mark Van Dyke; brothers: Laverne, Thomas, Victor, Adam, Gerald, Cletus, and one sister Evangeline Delgado.
Friends may call at Oneida Longhouse, W370 Reformatory Road, Oneida, WI, beginning at 6 PM on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 (today) and continuing until services on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 10 AM. Bob Brown will be officiating. Interment will take place at Holy Apostles Parish Cemetery, Oneida.
