Theodore M. Van De Yacht, Jr., 93, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2018, with his family at his side. He was born November 11, 1924 to the late Theodore G. Van De Yacht, Sr. and Frances (Klein) Van De Yacht. On May 17, 1952, he married the former Lillian Borlik at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Hofa Park.
Ted was a lifelong parishioner of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Isaar where he started out as a mass server, was an usher, member of the council and building committee, and was a trustee. He was a career salesman starting at Garrity Implement, Green Bay and retired from Kuehne Implement, Seymour. He received many sales achievement awards from Allis Chalmers and Owattona Mfg. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Knights and former member of the Seymour Lions Club.
He was an outdoorsman and especially liked to turkey and pheasant hunt with his sons and grandchildren, spent many years deer hunting at Long Lake, big game hunting out west and fishing in Canada. He was lucky to have traveled to most of the states, most of which were done camping with his family and friends. He spent several winters in Arizona as well as vacations to Jamaica, Cancun and Nova Scotia. He enjoyed to golf, snowmobiling and was an avid Packers fan. He started watching the Packers at East Stadium and was a ticket holder at Lambeau Field. He attended the famous Ice Bowl and took a train trip from Green Bay to Chicago to watch the oldest rivalry in football history. You could always find him in his happy place working in his shop or telling a joke.
He enjoyed spending time with his family whom he was proud of their accomplishments and was thrilled to be a grandpa and great-grandfather.
Ted is survived by his wife Lillian of 66 years and four children: Mike (Janice) Van De Yacht, Mary (Roger) Smits, Jerry Van De Yacht, and Janice (Ken) Garbowicz. He is further survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Traci (Major Nick) Scotch and their son, Mason; Thomas (Holly) Van De Yacht and their son, Rhett; Willie (friend Kayla) Van De Yacht; Abby (Brandon) Yaeger and their daughter, Stella; Sarah (Phil) Robinson and their daughter, Delia; and Ryan Smits.
He is further survived by a sister, Veronica Van Boxtel; sister-in-law, Marilyn (David) Hallada; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ted was preceded in death by his brothers: Leo, Edward, Bernard, and Norbert; sister, Rosella; and infant twin siblings.
Visitation will be at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a parish prayer service at 7:30 pm. Visitation will continue at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Isaar, on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 9:00 am until the funeral mass at 11:00 am with Fr. Brian Belongia and Deacon Rich Matuszak officiating. Entombment will take place at Allouez Catholic Chapel Mausoleum, Green Bay.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Ted’s memory.
