Vernon E. "Tiny" Kitzinger, 85, of Black Creek passed away Monday evening, March 12, 2012 at his home after a short illness with cancer. He was born October 11, 1926 son of the late Peter and Mabel (Sassman) Kitzinger in Black Creek. On July 2, 1966 he was united in marriage to Laverna Hartwig.
Tiny was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Black Creek and a member of the choir. He worked for the Outagamie Cty. Hwy. Dept. for 40 years. Vernon was a World War II Navy veteran, serving on the U.S.S. Battle Ship, Massachusetts. He was a member of the Duhm-Masch Post 332 American Legion for over 50 years and was a past commander. He was named Black Creek citizen of the year, served on the fire dept. for 48 years, Black Creek Village Board, Black Creek Sportsman Club and the Black Creek-Seymour Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed his cabin up north.
Survivors include his wife, Laverna; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Jane Steck, Virgie (Veryle "Red") Sievert, Joyce (Wayne) Heim, Norman R. (Bonnie) Hartwig; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Leslie (Corrine) Kitzinger, niece Carol Neuman; nephew Keith Ward, brothers-in-law Gordon Steck and David Ward
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Thursday March 15, 2012 from 6-9 PM and Friday, March 16, 2012 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 101 S. Clark St., Black Creek from 9:30 AM until services at 11:00 AM with Pastor Gail Irwin officiating. Burial will take place in the Freedom Lutheran Community Cemetery.
