Virginia Louise (Bergsbaken) Campshure, 77, of Shawano passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Shawano Health Services. She was born on May 17, 1943 a daughter of the late Daryl and Marie (Berendt) Bergsbaken.
She was the oldest of eight children, growing up on the family farm near Cecil. Virginia graduated from Bonduel High School in 1961. She worked in a variety of jobs, including at the shoe factories in Clintonville and Pulaski, the deli at T&C Super Market in Shawano, and the bakery at Pick n’ Save in Shawano. Virginia and her sisters owned and operated My Sisters and Me Bakery in Shawano for many years.
Virginia met the love of her life, Charles Rowinski, while they worked at the shoe factory in Pulaski. They were married in 1980 and soon after had their only daughter, Helen. He preceded her in death in 1996.
In 1998 she married Richard Campshure who preceded her in death in 2013.
Virginia was a master cookie baker, loved to garden, read, collect treasures, and had a great affection for small animals and small people. She taught Sunday School for many years at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Lessor, including proudly serving as Sunday School superintendent. She was talented in many ways – a wonderful cook and baker; crafting, particularly cross stitch; and caring passionately for people. She had a particular personality and a sense of humor most wouldn’t understand, but she had a big heart and was fiercely loyal.
She is survived by her daughter, Helen of Shawano; her siblings: Jim (Shelly) Bergsbaken, Cecil; Mollie Bergsbaken, Oostburg; Lee (Betty Ann) Bergsbaken, Cecil; Brenda (Jim) Stuebs, Clintonville; Dale (Shari) Bergsbaken, Cecil; Dawn (John) Moehrke, Oostburg; brother-in-law Jerry Matthews, Suamico; many nieces and nephews; and her cats Jack, Muffin, and Wednesday.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her sister Jane Matthews.
A visitation will take place on Sunday, June 28, 2020 starting at 2 p.m. at St. John's UCC in Cecil, WI, until the memorial service at 3:30 p.m.
Due to the ongoing public health situation there will not be a meal following the service. A memorial fund has been established.
