Virginia Wachtendonk, age 96, passed away at Good Shepherd in Seymour on March 30, 2021.
Virginia was born on October 5, 1924 to Charles and Alma (Heisler) Surman.
She enjoyed farming, gardening and cutting lawn.
She is survived by her children: Peter (Helen) Wachtendonk, David (Lois) Wachtendonk, and John (Sarah) Wachtendonk; grandchildren: Mike (Vicki) Wachtendonk, Jenny (John) Novitski, Cindy (Travis) Bartlett, Craig Wachtendonk, Stacie Strelka, Theresa Wachtendonk, Kerrie (Garrison) Bunnell, Kevin Wachtendonk, Michelle Wachtendonk, Jimmy (Tanaya) Wachtendonk; great-grandchildren: Justin Wachtendonk, Eric Wachtendonk, Brianna Bartlett, Jordan Bartlett, Joselyn Novitski, Jade Novitski, Matthew Wachtendonk, Madison Wachtendonk, Max Wachtendonk, Hayley Strelka, Logan Strelka, Megan Wachtendonk, Jacqueline Wachtendonk, Felicia Wachtendonk, Konnor Wachtendonk,Trent Shmiek, Brock Shmiek, Torrie Shmiek, and Bruce Shmiek; sisters: Violet Blohm, Lavina Stephani, Verona Martin, Rosemary Burton, Rosie Schweitzer; sisters-in-law, Chick Surman, and Joan Wendt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Wachtendonk in January of 1998; grandson, Nathan Wachtendonk; two brothers: Verge (Elenor) Surman, and Lavern Surman, brothers-in-law: Ervin Stephani, Norman Blohm, Alvin (Florence) Blohm, Louie Wendt; sister-in-law, Agnes (Bob) Baehler.
Friends may call at St. John Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 11 a.m. with Father Bob Kabat, Father Sengole Dass and Deacon Rich Matuszak officiating. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery.
