Wanda Rose Appleton, 90, of Seymour passed away early Saturday morning, February 18, 2012 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. She was born January 18, 1922 in Chicago, daughter of the late George and Anna (Sliwinski) Kusniesz. On October 7, 1950 she was united in marriage to John J. "Jack" Appleton. He preceded her in death January 2, 2001. Wanda was a member of St. Nicholas Parish in Freedom and farmed with her husband for over 50 years on the Appleton homestead in the town of Freedom.
Wanda enjoyed life. She bowled and attended farm meetings. She loved traveling with Jack during retirement and worked at the St. Vincent de Paul store in Appleton for 20 years.
Survivors include her children: Julane (Ken) Smith, Freedom; Jeanne (Pat Martin) Appleton, Janesville; Jackie (Ralph) Jardine, Canada; Wayne (Lisa) Appleton, Kimberly; 5 grandchildren: Adam (Katie), Joe, Dan, Amanda, Alicia; a great grandchild, Sophia; many nieces and nephews; Tootsie her daily companion and friend.
Preceded in death by Jack her husband of 50 years; parents; brothers: Ted and Frank; sisters: Mary and Sophie; nieces: Patty Appleton, Linda Appleton, Maureen Kusniesz
Friends may call at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from 9:30AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM with Fr. Dave Hoffman and Deacon Don Newhouse officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.muehlboettcher.com
