Wayne Schmidt

June 3, 1949 — November 27, 2022

Wayne M. Schmidt, age 73, passed away following a sudden illness on Sunday, November 27, 2022 with family by his side, just 12 days after his bride, Doris.

Wayne was born on June 3, 1949 son of the late Leslie and Marjorie (Peterson) Schmidt.

He was united in marriage to Doris Gregorius on May 6, 1972 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Black Creek, which is where he and Doris first became acquainted. She preceded him in death on November 15, 2022.

Wayne remained a lifelong member of St. John's United Church of Christ having served as a council member for many years and enjoyed playing on the dartball team.

He served on the Outagamie County Snowmobile Alliance and was a founding member of the Black Creek Railriders Snowmobile Club.

Wayne and Doris raised their family on their dairy farm in Shiocton. He served on the Alto Dairy Board of Directors for five years. Wayne was born into farming and proudly lived the farm life having been the third generation on the family farm. He continued running the farm until his loving wife and best friend, Doris, called him home to be with her.

Wayne was a family man at heart and was very proud of his children, with his grandsons being the most precious to him.

He is survived by his children: Mark Schmidt, Robin Schmidt, Paul (Taycie) Schmidt and their sons, Jordan and Haydan; sister, Carol Schmidt; brother-in-law, Dale (Marilyn) Gregorius; the children he loved as his own: Sheila (Scott) Neff and their daughters, Seija and Keira; Dawn (John) Steinberg and their son, Dietrich. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbors, and many friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Schmidt; and brother, Daniel Schmidt; niece, LuAnn Beckman; and nephew, James Schmidt.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at St. John's United Church of Christ, Black Creek from 10:00 am until the funeral service at 1:00 pm with Pastor Moira Finley officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Wayne's memory.
