Willis Melchert

Willis "Willie" Melchert, age 71, of Oneida passed away peacefully Saturday, September 12, 2009 in Green Bay.

He was born October 20, 1937 to the late Antone and Thressa (Doxtator) Melchert. Willie married Carol Mikle on December 19, 1959. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Oneida where both he and Carol were baptized, confirmed and later married.

Willie had worked at Northern Shoe Company in Pulaski and Alwin Manufacturing in Green Bay.

He enjoyed watching the birds come to the feeders. Willie loved music and had played in several polka and bluegrass bands over the years. Spending time with his family was very important to him as he was a very good husband and father. The grandchildren loved their Papa very much.

In addition to his wife Carol, his survived by two children, Kim Greiling, Forest Junction, and Aaron Melchert and Patty, Black Creek; three grandchildren: Brooke, Brandon, and Mitchell Greiling; two sisters, Florence Paul, Neenah, and Carol Metoxen, Oneida; two brothers, Merlin (Elaine) Melchert, DePere, and Gary (Pat) Melchert, Appleton; a special aunt Helen Doxtator, Eau Claire; mother-in-law Ethel Mikle, Seymour; many nieces and nephews, brothes-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by five brothers: Raymond, Harvey, Antone, Herman, and Carl; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 from 4 to 8 PM. Visitation will continue at Zion Lutheran Church, Oneida, on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 from 1 PM until services at 2 PM with Reverend Vernon Heim officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
