What do you like MOST about being a Funeral Director? Helping families get through one of the most difficult times in their lives and having them know that I'm there to support them all the way through. My father was a Funeral Director and was dedicated to helping families in any way he could. He was a great role model to me.
What do you like MOST about working in the Seymour community? The people who live here. When I moved back to Seymour my dad gave me some great advice, "take care of the families in your community and they will take care of you". I saw this first hand so many times when I would meet with a family who lost someone tragically and I would let them know how the community would be there to support them during the visitation and funeral. Seymour and the surrounding communities have so many good hearted people living here. I experienced this when my father died and again when our son was in an accident and they supported us in so many ways.
What has been the most rewarding experience in all your years of funeral service? I would have to say there are many but the two most are, the friendships I've made along the way with families I served and second was when my wife and I came back to Seymour we were one of the first funeral homes to have a program to explain death to children. I'm now in my 60's and I have had many adults come up to me and say " I remember when I was a child and you took the time to answer my questions and explain death to me when I had a loss in my family, thank you, it has helped me throughout my life. What a great feeling to know you made a difference in someone's life. Funeral Service isn't just an occupation to me it's my passion.
